Miss Madeline G. Lucas
New Liskeard, Ontario
Dear Madeline,
Your kind and welcome letter was rec'd. Many thank for same. Your account of the trip and etc was indeed interesting. I am so sorry you had a somewhat tiresome journey from North Bay up North. I only hope on your return you will not be sick.
This is Sunday evening 9 P.M. I have been to Methodist church tonight and also for a walk with Col. Brown. Today has been fine and quite a nice fall day. The afternoon I was down to see Lyda and about 4 P.M. your Mother, Lyda, Arnold, Charlie, Mrs S. Lucas and baby went for an Auto ride. We went east to Hungry Hollow via Sylvan Thedford ridge road out the 6th & home. they enjoyed the trip fine. Grass widows are a funny bunch. Think of me. Lyda and I have been having a fine time, last Sunday we went about 45 miles and she ran the car most of the way. We had some experience and rather exciting time. She loves driving fast and the wheels will only turn so fast. We make the hills now on the jump. It pays to go to the top. Lyda will tell you all about the fun we ha on our homeward way.
Last Sunday evening Cecil Stoner and I went for a walk and Alice and Lyda Lampman passed us up north and after much consideration we agreed to see them home. Lyda and I fell in line. It was awful windy and coming home took all the fun out of it. Now you forgive me as I thought it no harm and my intentions were not being changed. I only hope you have a good time up north and I pray your health may be restored. Take good care of yourself and rest. Don't come home until you feel like it. Now be sure and don't worry about things at home. I only wish I could have a nice trip like yours.
Harry was tied up last Wednesday and so now have a sister. I didn't kiss her as I was afraid and moreover I don't kiss other people's wives. Madeline I am short of news and I hope Lyda will tell you all. I get lots of digs these days but I only smile and so pull thru. Will you answer this letter soon as I am anxious to know how you are and I know you want a little exercise.
I remain
Yours sincerely,
W.A. Williams
P.S. Next time I'll do better.
